Noumea is absoultley stuffed with ubicuous bars that prepare "le sandwich", a long baguette-style bread filled with whatever you might want, wth lettuce ant tomatoes added. it's a good cheap meal that satisfies an empty stomach. The Vietnamese snack le Vilbar, rue de Sebastopol, at the San Francisco Hotel, is one of the bars that serve such things. Price: about 200 CFP.
